TWO PART EXHIBITION WITH THIELSKA GALLERIET
Two Part Exhibition with Thielska Galleriet. After the presentation at Loyal the sculpture will be re-installed in the sculpture park of Thielska Galleriet on Djurgården.
Central to Pedersen’s exhibition is a large gate in casted aluminium. Two organically shaped figures are encircling its bars, bringing to mind fairytale doorkeepers guarding a treasure. The three meter wide gate is site-specific, installed in the bay at the back of the gallery space. A dreamlike, sculptural scenario unfolds in front of it. Long, thin, ghostlike characters are pushing a pig slumbering in a boat towards the gate. Appearing to move in the slowest of slow motion, the sculptures call for reflection on the very existence of time and a converging place in space. A video work is installed behind the gate, turning it into a portal between before and after, here and elsewhere. While kept out, the viewer is still invited to peek through the bars to get a glimpse of this other location to where Piggy is potentially going.
Linda Pedersen (b. 1987) is living and working in Stockholm. Educated at Konstfack (BFA 2018) she received the Sven “X-et” Erixson Museum scholarship 2018. Pedersen works sculpturally with her own mythology. The gate sculpture specifically created for Loyal will after “Piggy’s Dream” travel to Thielska Galleriet where the artist is part of the summer exhibition “Contemporary art in the park: Christian Andersson, Fia Backström and Linda Pedersen” curated by Kamarade, opening June 8. Thielska is beautifully located in a villa on Stockholm’s museum island Djurgården. The sculpture park exhibition will run until October 6.
